Carrying on with our #5ReasonsWhy campaign, the second charity nominated by the public are Chester Aid To The Homeless.

Our 5 Reasons Why campaign was started as a way for us and the community to give back to some great local charities that have such an impact on our city. We gave the lovely general public the opportunity to send in their nominations for charities they thought should receive donations from both us and our customers.

The 3 charities that received the most nominations are being added to our contracts, so our customers have the option to round up their fee and donate to one of the charities listed. These are Share Shop Chester, Chester Aid To The Homeless and Chester Voluntary Action.

Chester Aid to the Homeless (CATH) was founded by a team of volunteers in 1972 to provide help and support to Chester’s homeless community. It has developed over four decades to become a leading homeless charity in the city of Chester providing a wide range of services.

CATH are much more than just a one off place for a warm meal and a place to sleep, they provide a constant support network. Every morning between 9:00-10:30 CATH offer a walk in service where they provide shower/laundry services, a free clothing store, medical services and benefit/accommodation advice and information. Their aim is to help people get off the streets for good, whilst providing the support and health care in the process.

They also provide supplies from a food bank to help those in crisis, and a meditation service for anyone accessing its services providing advice, information and dispute resolution including benefit sanctions/issues, veteran support, homeless prevention and accommodation referrals.

CATH are always on the look out for volunteers to help out in all aspects of client services, here you can find out all the ways you can help out, whether it’s with donations or giving up your free time to volunteer it all goes such a long way!

The way we wanted to run this campaign is set to last, we want to keep our support of vital local causes ongoing!
